Im just guessing if all who think Israel as a terrorist state - or to no be rude, a violent and racist one - are classified by the author as "...not an Angry Young Militant." even by those who dont live there anymore, just came back to visit, when aloud, his parents.
I know that not all israelis are racist or sionist, but all arabs (us) suffer racist and violence acts from a jew soldier or citizen from Israel. A mere and little detail, for sure.

I believe that you are putting a 21st century perspective on a problem that really is more of the 19th century variety.

Distinct societies trying to occupy the same land. In the end such a situation is indeed unworkable.

In the end, one society will prevail. It is exactly like the problems the Americans had with their "Indian" competition. The cold hard fact of it was that it really couldn't have ended any other way than it did.

The cold hard fact is it is either the Israelis or the Palestinians. Now you put yourself into this situation when you really didn't have to. You were born in Canada, not in Israel so you actually put yourself into this situation by moving to Israel. So you are like the American families who moved out west displacing the native population in the 19th century and earlier.

So, the hard cold fact just like in the 19th century is which peoples will survive. Because both can't.

(where's small pox when you need it, huh).

Yes, both are unwilling to reveal their identities, but one should note the reasons why this is so.

The Sderot man is afraid of being stereotyped in his town. The Gaza man's life, on the other hand, would be in real danger as he could be marked as a collaborator. In other words: if exposed, one will be embarassed, but the other will die.

Vive la difference. Say no more.
